Our dermatologists at ShadeTree Dermatology in Rockledge and Cocoa Beach, Florida, are experts in treating facial redness and rosacea with pulsed dye laser, or PDL, technology. As a non-invasive and effective treatment option, pulsed dye laser treatment has become increasingly popular for reducing the appearance of facial redness and improving skin texture and tone.
Our dedicated team describes pulsed dye laser treatment as a type of laser therapy that uses short bursts of light to target blood vessels in the skin. The light energy from the laser is absorbed by the blood vessels, causing them to shrink and eventually disappear.
Pulsed dye lasers emit different wavelengths of light that target specific structures in the skin. In the case of facial redness and rosacea, the light targets the blood vessels responsible for the redness. As these vessels shrink and disappear, the overall redness is reduced, and a more even skin tone can be achieved.
One of the advantages of this type of laser treatment is that it is generally well-tolerated by patients. Some describe a sensation similar to a rubber band snapping against the skin, while others might feel some heat or minor discomfort during the procedure. However, most patients do not require anesthesia or pain medication during treatments.
The duration of each pulsed dye laser treatment session varies depending on the specific size and location of the treatment area. Sessions usually range from 15 minutes to an hour. Our team will work with you to determine the appropriate length for your skincare goals and needs.
The number of pulsed dye laser treatment sessions required varies depending on the severity and extent of facial redness or rosacea. Some patients might see more significant improvement after just one treatment session, while others might require multiple treatments spaced a couple of weeks apart for the best final results. Our dermatologists at ShadeTree Dermatology will develop a personalized treatment plan that suits your needs.
The results of pulsed dye laser treatment can vary from person to person. The treated redness may not return in some cases, while in others, it may gradually reappear over time. Genetics, lifestyle habits, and skincare routine can also play a role in the longevity of results. Our team provides you with personalized recommendations to help maintain your results for as long as possible.
