Our team is open to new and established patients ready to address concerns impacting the hair, skin, nails, and body. This includes dark spots and hyperpigmentation on the face. With a proper diagnosis of your condition, our dermatology team can provide treatment to restore your skin’s health and appearance quickly and easily.
Let’s dive into hyperpigmentation and what can be done to address it!
Hyperpigmentation is best described as what happens when certain areas of your skin appear darker than the rest. This occurs due to excess melanin, the pigment that gives your skin its color. Think of it as your skin creating little “sunspots” or “freckles” on the skin.
Absolutely! Our dermatology providers are like skin detectives—they find the cause of your hyperpigmentation (sun damage, hormones, acne, etc.) and then tailor treatments specifically for you. Whether it’s lasers, chemical peels, or prescription creams, they’ve got tools to lighten and brighten your skin.
There’s a whole menu of options when it comes to the treatment of dark spots and facial hyperpigmentation. Popular ones include chemical peels to exfoliate away pigmented spots, laser therapy to zap dark areas, Diamond Glow Facial, and prescription-strength topical treatments like hydroquinone or retinoids. We will help in picking the best recipe for your skin.
Not really! Most of our skincare treatments are designed to be gentle, though you might experience a little tingling or warmth. For treatments like lasers, it’s more like a quick “zap” feeling. Of course, if anything feels uncomfortable, your dermatology provider is there and can help with numbing cream and device adjustments.
Patience is key when it comes to seeing the final results from hyperpigmentation treatments. Depending on the treatment, you could start noticing improvements in a few weeks, but full results might take a few months. Your skin didn’t get pigment spots overnight, and they won’t disappear overnight, either!
It’s possible, especially if you skip the sunscreen when spending time outdoors. Protecting your skin against UV rays is crucial to prevent new spots from forming. Stay consistent with your dermatologist’s advice and make sunscreen a daily occurrence.
Absolutely! Dermatologists are trained to treat all skin tones safely and effectively. They adjust based on your unique skin type to ensure the treatment enhances your complexion without causing issues.
We recommend stopping certain skincare products, like retinoids, a few days before your appointment. Most importantly, come with fresh, clean skin beforehand.
